Projects and versions
What a project is
A project keeps one piece of work together: its brief, every version of it and the files you gave it. It is saved in your Nourva account, so it opens on any of your devices. Use one when a paper goes through many rounds, such as a report you keep improving or a workbook you update each month.
Each change the Office makes in a project is saved as a new version. Earlier versions stay in the project, and you can go back to any of them.
Before your first project is saved, a sheet titled Projects stay with you explains three things: Saved for you (your brief, each version and the files you add are kept in your Nourva account), Private (your project's text and files are encrypted, never sold and never used for ads) and You're in control (delete a project at any time; deleting your account deletes every project). Tap Continue to go on. Projects are not saved while you are in incognito.
Start a project
There are two ways.
- Tap ⋯ at the top of the Office.
- Choose Projects.
- Tap New project.
- Type a name in Name the project….
- Tap Create.
Or start from a paper you already have. Ask the Office to change a paper it delivered, and it keeps that paper as version 1 and your change as version 2, with the note Kept as a project.
When a project is open, a bar at the top of the Office reads Project: and its name. Tap the name to open the project page. Tap × to close the project when you want to work on something else. If the desk is busy, the app asks you to finish or stop the work on the desk first.
If a project has no brief yet, your first request in it becomes its brief.
Work inside a project
While a project is open, each paper the Office makes for you is saved to it as the next version, and the app says Saved to the project as version with its number. To pick up from an earlier version:
- Open Projects and tap the project.
- Under Versions, tap ⋯ beside the version you want.
- Choose Continue from here.
That version becomes the current one, and the desk opens on its file. Say what you want changed:
Make the summary shorter and add a table of costs on page 3.The change becomes a new version. When you started from an older version, the new one is marked From version and that number. To change the current version, you can also type in the box on the project page, What should change?
If a paper could not be added to the project, the app says This version wasn't saved to the project. It is in My files.
The project page
The page has three parts under the project's name.
| Part | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Brief | The project's brief: your first request in it, or the request that made its first version. When it is long, tap more to read all of it. |
| Versions | Every version, newest first: its number, a Current tag on the one you are working from, how many pages it has, and where it came from. |
| Your files | Files you add for the project to use again. |
A paper in a project can be a Word document, an Excel workbook, a deck or a PDF. Tap a version to open its file.
A version's ⋯ menu holds Open, Share, Continue from here and Delete. Deleting asks first, in a popup that names the version: Its file is removed from this project. Confirm with Delete.
Add a file
- Under Your files, tap Add.
- Choose the file.
- Under What is it?, pick Template, Logo, Font, Picture or Reference.
The app confirms Kept in the project. You won't need to add it again. To take a file out, tap its ⋯, choose Remove and confirm. Versions already made keep it.
Rename, share and delete
The ⋯ beside the project's name holds three actions:
- Rename: type a new name.
- Share: sends the newest version's own file, in its own format and with its own name. With no version yet, the app says No version to share yet.
- Delete: asks first, then deletes the project and every version in it on all your devices. Copies in My files stay. This cannot be undone.
Project storage
Each account has one space for all its projects together. It is measured by size, not by how many versions or files you keep. Versions and added files both count.
Under Your files, a line shows how much of the space your projects use. When the space is full, the app tells you so and asks you to delete an older version or a file to add more. You can also delete a project you no longer need.
Your plan also sets how many projects you can keep, and the app tells you when you reach that limit. Delete a project to start another. Projects need a connection; when you are offline, the app tells you so.
