Work with a reply
What you can do with a reply
A finished reply is something you can work with, not only read. You can act on the whole reply from the row under it, or tap one paragraph and act on that paragraph alone. Replies can also carry live cards, choices you tap to answer, buttons that open another part of Nourva, and code you can preview.
These controls appear once a reply is finished. They are not there while Nourva is still writing, or after you stop a reply.
Under every reply
A row sits under each finished reply.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Copy | Copies the reply as plain words, without formatting marks. |
| Share | Opens your phone's share sheet with the reply as text. |
| Retry | Asks again and writes a new reply to the same message. |
| Listen | Reads the reply aloud, right in the chat. Tap it again to stop. |
| More | Opens the same sheet a paragraph opens, for the whole reply. |
Listen uses credits. It reads in the voice of Nourva One, and you need to be signed in. If a reply fails, a Retry button is the only control under it. For how credits work, see How credits work.
Tap a paragraph
Tap any paragraph of a finished reply. It is marked, and a small bar appears beside it with four controls:
- Translate translates that paragraph where it stands. Once it is translated, the button reads Show original.
- Copy copies the paragraph.
- Listen reads the paragraph aloud. It uses credits.
- More opens a sheet for that paragraph.
Tap another paragraph and the bar moves. Tap anywhere else, or scroll, and it goes away. A card, a picture, a player or a link keeps its own tap, and pressing and holding text still selects it as usual.
Translate
Translate and Listen need an account. If the paragraph is in another language, Nourva translates it into the language of your app at once. If it is already in your language, you choose the language to translate into. A translated paragraph shows Translated from and the language it came from, with Show original to switch back.
What More holds
More opens a sheet that quotes the paragraph, or the whole reply, at the top. Four tiles come first: Translate, Copy, Share and Listen. Under them:
| Row | What happens |
|---|---|
| Ask about this | Puts the paragraph in your message box as a quote, so you can add your question before you send. |
| Explain it simpler | Sends a message at once asking Nourva to explain that paragraph in an easier way. |
| Summarize the reply | Sends a message at once asking for a summary of the reply in a few lines. |
| Quote in my reply | Adds the paragraph as a quote to what you are writing. |
| Translate the whole reply | Translates every paragraph. Show the whole original puts it back. |
Two more rows sit at the bottom. On a paragraph, Select text selects it so you can copy part of it. Copy as Markdown copies the paragraph or the reply with its formatting.
Send it somewhere else
When you are signed in, Send to shows where the words can go:
- One sends them to Nourva One, who picks them up as a message from your chat.
- The Office puts them in the Office's box, ready for you to send.
- Arachne puts them in her box, ready for you to send.
- Drop sends them to your computer as a text file, through Nourva Drop. If no computer is linked, the app says so.
- Files saves them to your files in Nourva as a text file.
An Incognito chat sends nothing out. To send from one, end Incognito first. See Chat in Incognito.
Live cards
When your question is about something with a ready-made answer, the reply can open with a card above its words. Nourva picks the card that fits what you ask. There are twelve kinds:
- Weather
- Price chart
- A match
- Standings
- A film or series
- A knowledge panel
- Top stories
- Currency converter
- Local time
- Unit converter
- Dictionary
- Prayer times
A card shows one answer and its source. Tap More on the card to open the rest of it in place; one card of a reply is open at a time. The currency card says Daily reference rate, not a live quote, so treat its figure as a guide and not as the rate you would get from a bank. Without an account you chat only, so there are no cards.
Choices and buttons
A reply can end with a row of choice chips. Tap one and Nourva sends that option as your next message, so you answer without typing. A reply can also end with a button that opens another part of Nourva, such as your plans or the Office. Tap it and you go there.
Code previews
Code in a reply is drawn as a block with its language and line count. A long block folds; tap Show all and the line count to open it, and Show fewer lines to fold it again. Copy copies the code.
HTML, SVG, Markdown, JSON and CSV also get a Preview button. It shows the result as it would look, in a sheet inside the chat. Scripts and the internet are off in the preview, so a page you preview cannot run code or load anything.
