Nourva Drop: send files to your devices

Link your computer once with a six-digit code, then send files, photos, video, text or links from your phone, sealed so only your own devices can open them.

What Drop does

Nourva Drop moves what is on your phone to your computer. You link the two once, with a code. After that you send files, photos or video, or a piece of text or a link, and they land on the computer. Every file, and its name, is sealed on your phone before it leaves, so only your own devices can open it.

Open it from the Apps seat by tapping Nourva Drop. Drop belongs to your account, so sign in first. You also need Nourva on the computer: get it from the download page. For a short walk-through, open the ⋯ menu on the Drop page and choose Take a tour.

Send from Nourva Drop

  1. Open Nourva Drop and tap Throw a file.
  2. Under What to throw, choose one of the three ways in the table.
  3. Pick your files or photos, or type your text and tap Review the send. The Review page opens.
  4. Check the list. Your computer is shown under To.
  5. Tap Throw to followed by your computer's name.
ChooseUse it for
From the phone's filesSeveral files at once, in any format.
Photos or videoAnything from your photo library. For a very large video, use From the phone's files.
Text or a linkA note or a link you type or paste.

Files on their way are listed under In motion with their progress. Your plan sets how large one file can be and how much transfer space you have; Review shows the Per-file limit on your plan. The app tells you when a file is too big (The file is over the limit.) or when space runs short (Not enough space.). Manage space opens Storage, where Clear the temporary copies frees room. Files kept on your phone are not touched.

Send from other apps

On iPhone and iPad you can send without opening Drop.

  1. In Safari, Photos or Files, open what you want to send and tap Share.
  2. Choose Nourva. The file goes to your linked computer without opening the app.

If Nourva is not in the row of apps, tap More in that row and add it.

Files that Nourva makes for you can go the same way. In the Office or in Arachne's files:

  1. Open the file.
  2. Tap Send it to….
  3. Choose Nourva Drop.

Only the file is sent, with no instruction attached. Nourva tells you whether it landed or is waiting for your computer.

Kept private, and waiting for a device

  • Sealed before it leaves. The file and its name are encrypted on your phone. Nourva cannot open them.
  • Only your devices. The code links the devices of your own account, and nothing is shared publicly. The Security page in Drop sums this up (before you link, tap How it stays private).
  • Keys stay on the device. If a linked device's key changes, for example when Nourva is installed again on it, sending to it pauses until you link it again. If Nourva was not reinstalled there, leave it unlinked.
  • A copy stays where it arrives. What reached a device does not disappear when the transfer copy ends.

If the computer is off, the sealed copy waits under Waiting for and your computer's name. Its status reads Waiting for the device to receive until the computer receives it or the temporary copy expires; the transfer's page shows Kept until. If a copy expires, send the original again. To take a waiting file back, open it and tap Withdraw, then confirm with Withdraw: the sealed copy leaves the cloud and the computer will not receive it.
