Levels and credits

Choose Low, Mid, Max or Ultra for your Word, Excel, deck and PDF files, see what each level changes, and know what happens when your credits run out.

Choose a level

The Office makes every file at one of four levels: Low, Mid, Max and Ultra. A higher level takes more care over the file and costs more credits. Max is the default. Your choice is saved with your account, and Word, Excel, deck and PDF files all use it.

  1. Open The Office on the bottom bar.
  2. Tap Make me a file.
  3. Tap + in the box.
  4. Use Think to pick Low, Mid, Max or Ultra. The row shows the level you are on.

The new level applies to the next file you ask for.

What each level changes

Each step up adds care, and the file costs more. When you name no length, the level also sets how long a Word or PDF file aims to be.

LevelCare and priceWord or PDF, when you name no length
LowThe lightest care, at the lowest priceThe shortest
MidMore care, at a higher priceLonger
MaxMore care again, and the defaultLonger again
UltraThe most care, at the highest priceThe longest

An Excel workbook aims for several sheets at every level. If you name a length, Nourva follows it, up to the most that kind of file can hold.

How credits are charged

Office files are paid in credits. A file costs more as its level, its length and its pictures grow. A file is not a basic chat, so it never uses your free chats.

  • Pictures drawn for a file's cover and sections add to the price. You can switch them off; see Paper size, alignment, pictures and sources.
  • Starter includes no credits and cannot buy them, so an Office file there is paid from credits Nourva has given you.
  • Professional, Ultimate and Max use plan credits first, up to your Weekly power, then extra credits.

For the order credits are used in and which ones expire, see How credits work.

When your credits run out

If your credits cannot cover a file when you send it, the Office does not make it and says: Your credit doesn't cover this paper — renew your plan and send it again.

If your credits run out while a file is being made, the file pauses and keeps what is done. Its card shows Needs you and a Resume button, with the words: Your credit ran out. Top up, then resume — it continues from its last saved page.

  1. Add credits. On Professional, Ultimate and Max, open Settings › Subscription & usage › Buy credits on iPhone and iPad.
  2. Go back to the paused file's card in the Office.
  3. Tap Resume.

A file can also pause at a limit, and the card says which. If one file reaches the most a single document may use, ask for it in two smaller parts. If you reach the day's limit for documents, resume it the next day.

Keep the cost down

  • Use Low for a first pass, then raise the level for the file you will share.
  • Name the length you need. A shorter file costs less.
  • Switch pictures off when the file does not need them.
