Sign a PDF or a picture
Sign a file
Use Sign when a PDF or a picture needs your signature. Your signatures are kept on your phone; you tap the page where one goes, and the Office returns a signed copy. The file you started from is not changed.
There are two ways in:
- Write for me › Sign, then pick the paper. Use this for a file on your phone, or when you want to make a signature first.
- A PDF's ⋯ menu › Sign. Use this on a PDF the Office made for you or one in My files. The page opens with the file ready.
Signing needs you to be signed in. It is part of the paid plans; on Starter it opens when your account holds credits, and without them the app says This tool is a paid feature — upgrade and try instantly. See Plans at a glance.
Make a signature
- Open Write for me › Sign.
- Tap the dashed plate with a plus, after your saved signatures. The New signature page opens.
- Choose Draw or Import an image.
- Tap Save the signature. The app confirms with Signature saved.
Draw. Draw your signature with your finger on the pad. Tap one of the 4 ink dots to sign in black, blue, red or violet. Undo removes your last stroke and Clear the pad starts again.
Import an image. Tap Pick a photo of your signature and choose a photo of your name written on plain paper. The app lifts the ink off the paper and shows the result. Move the Pickup sensitivity slider until the signature looks right: raise it to catch faint lines, lower it to drop marks that are not ink. If the app says No clear ink — raise the sensitivity or try a clearer photo, raise the slider or pick a sharper photo.
Your newest signature is chosen for you. You can keep several signatures on this phone, one set for each account you sign in with.
Sign a paper
- Open Write for me › Sign. Under Pick the paper to sign, tap Pick a PDF or an image for a file on your phone, or My files for a PDF or picture you already have there. From a PDF's ⋯ menu, tap Sign and skip this step.
- Tap the signature you want. The chosen one has a ring around it.
- Tap the page where the signature goes, or tap Place the signature here to put it near the lower right of the page.
- Drag the signature to move it, drag its corner handle to resize it, or tap − or + beside the chip to make it smaller or larger.
- On a PDF with more pages, use the arrows under the page to go to another page and place the signature there too. The label reads Page 1 of 3, for example.
- Tap Apply the signature. The button reads Running — moments… while it works.
When it finishes, the app shows Signed — the file is ready and a card with the signed file. Tap Open to see it, Share to send the file itself, or Send it to… to hand it to another part of Nourva. A copy is also kept in My files, in the Outputs folder.
To take the signature off the page you are on, tap Remove it from this page. With a keyboard, the arrow keys move the signature and Shift with the arrows resizes it.
Repeat on every page
On a PDF with more than one page, a switch called Repeat on every page appears. Turn it on and the signature goes on every page, at the spot and size you set on the first page where you placed it. Place it on at least one page first; otherwise the app says Place the signature on the page first.
Remove a signature
Each saved signature has an × at its corner. Tap it and the app asks Are you sure? with the line This signature leaves your phone. Tap Remove to delete it, or Cancel to keep it. When you reach the limit, the dashed plate is hidden; remove one to make room for a new one.
Limits and what to know
- A file has a size limit. One that is too large is refused, and the app says so.
- Your signatures are stored on this phone. Applying one sends the paper and that signature to Nourva.
- A signed PDF stays a PDF, and a signed JPG, PNG or WebP picture stays the same kind of picture. The signed copy keeps the file's name with -signed added.
- If the board says Pick a signature first, tap one of your signatures, or make one with the dashed plate.
- If you see Couldn't connect — check the network and retry, The tool couldn't run — retry or Couldn't run — try again, check your connection and tap Apply the signature again.
