Ask for a finished piece
An employee answers in the conversation first. When you want something to keep, such as a report, a plan or a checklist, turn the answer into a finished piece. Each employee builds one piece at a time and keeps it on their desk.
- Open Hiring, tap Your team and open an employee.
- Ask your question in the box.
- Tap the ink button under their latest answer. Its words fit what you asked and who you asked: Turn it into a plan, Turn it into a trip plan, Turn it into a recipe, Turn it into a workout plan, Turn it into a checklist, Turn it into a guide, Turn it into a comparison, Turn it into a dashboard or Turn it into a report.
Plan 5 days in Lisbon in March for two of us. I want the full version, with every detail. The desk then shows three steps, Take in, Plan and Build, with a running clock and a line such as Looking things up… or Building…. Tap Stop to end the work. On iPhone, a card on your Lock Screen follows the same steps.
You can leave the app or lock your phone. When you come back, the desk says Picking it back up… and carries on without starting a second run. A notice tells you when the piece is ready, by its name, for example Your report is ready or Your trip plan is ready.
If the work stops, the desk shows Couldn't finish it with Try again, or It arrived unfinished. One tap finishes it. with Finish it. A piece uses credits like the rest of an employee's work; with none left, the desk says You're out of credits.
What a report holds
- Research first. Before planning, the employee looks things up and reads the best pages they find.
- Real names. Places and options are named by their real names. A price, a rating or an opening hour appears only when the research found it.
- Designed for your question. Each report is built with the maps, timelines, comparisons, day-by-day schedules and charts that suit it, not from one template.
- Pictures made for it. The pictures are made for the report, or come from your own photos. None is taken from the web.
- Numbered sources. A researched report lists its sources by number, and a number in the text jumps to its source.
A new report is compact by default. If your own words ask for the full version, as in the example above, you get the long one. When you change a report, it keeps its size and grows only the part you name.
Open it and change it
Delivered reports sit in two places: the Delivered view next to Chat on an employee's desk, and the Delivered shelf on the Hiring home, which shows each employee's latest report. Tap a report to read it. On the desk, the newest report has Open it and Change it.
- Tap Change it, or open the report and use the box at its foot, which reads Ask Emma to change something with the employee's name.
- Write what you want different and send it.
- The same employee revises that same report.
Make day 3 slower and add a place for lunch. When an employee offers you several options, answer «all» and they set every option side by side on one page, with a verdict. On that page, Plan this one plans a single option. Plan them all asks first, with a popup such as Plan all 4 options?. If you agree, the employee plans the options one after another, each on its own page, and each uses credits like any page.
Pass it on
At the foot of a report, Next steps offers a few tiles chosen for that report, such as Calendar, Share, Change it or Hand to a colleague. The ⋯ at the top of the open report holds these actions:
- Everything to Calendar adds every dated step to your calendar, each with an alert. It shows only when the report has dated steps, and it works on iPhone and iPad.
- Share sends the report's text through your phone's share sheet. If sharing is not possible, Nourva copies the text and says Copied.
- Copy as text copies the report's words.
- Hand to and a colleague's name, for example Hand to Omar, opens that colleague's desk with a first line already in the box: who made the report and its title. You read it and send it yourself.
Export a report
In the open report, tap ⋯ and choose Export. Pick a format, and the file is made from the page as it is now and kept in your Files.
| Format | What you get |
|---|---|
| The page exactly as you see it. | |
| Word | A document you can edit. |
| Excel | The report's tables and figures as sheets. |
| Slides | A slide for each part. |
| Picture | The whole page in one picture. |
The file appears as a card on the desk. Word, Excel and slides are made one at a time, so while another is being made the app says Another file is being made. Try again in a minute. Exports have a daily limit; when you reach it, the app says You've reached today's export limit. Try again tomorrow. If a page is too long for one picture, the app says so and suggests PDF.
Files an employee sends in a reply
Ask in the conversation and an employee can send a real file in their reply, such as a PDF, a Word or Excel file, slides or a picture. The card says Saved to Files when it is in your Files. If it could not be saved, the card says its link lasts a limited time, so open or share it soon.
Delete a report
You can delete a report in three ways:
- Press and hold its tile in Delivered.
- Press and hold its card on the Delivered shelf of the Hiring home.
- Open the report, tap ⋯ and choose Delete report.
A popup asks Delete this report? and says it will be deleted for good. Tap Delete to confirm, or Cancel. The app answers Report deleted.
Deleting removes the report from your account, so it goes from every device you use, and it cannot be brought back. While the employee is building something, the app says One piece at a time. Wait or stop the work, then try again. If the delete fails, the app says Couldn't delete the report. Try again.
