Talk to Nourva One
Start a conversation
Nourva One is the voice of Nourva: you talk, she listens and answers aloud. She sits in a seat at the top of every screen, with a row of small bars as her icon, and she stays with you when you move to another screen. On Apple Watch and in CarPlay she has guides of her own.
| You want to | Do this |
|---|---|
| Talk | Tap the bars. |
| Open her full sheet | Press and hold the bars, or pull them down. While she is live, you can also tap the arrow beside her state. |
| Type instead | Tap the pen beside the bars. |
| Start from outside the app | On iPhone, say "Hey Siri, talk to Nourva". |
Siri also knows "Start Nourva" and "Ask Nourva a question".
When you open Nourva, a thin line draws under her seat for a few seconds with the words Talk to Nourva One. Tap the words to start her, or tap anywhere else and the line goes away. It shows once each time you open the app, never when you move between screens.
Type to her
You do not have to speak. Tap the pen and the seat becomes a text field. Write your message and send it with the arrow, or press return. She answers in writing, briefly, in a strip under the seat; her sheet stays closed. Ask her to open a part of the app and she takes you there.
- Tap + to add photos or files from Photo Library, Files or Camera.
- Tap anywhere outside the seat to put it back to rest.
What you see while you talk
The seat and the top of her sheet always name what she is doing.
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Connecting | The line is opening. |
| Listening | She hears you. Take your time: a pause is part of the conversation. |
| Thinking | She is putting an answer together. |
| Working | She is doing something for you. |
| Speaking | She is answering aloud. |
| Ended | The conversation is over. |
Her sheet adds Stopped when you cut in, and Paused while you have paused her. You can interrupt her at any time: start speaking and she stops the moment you speak, then listens.
If the seat says Muted, Can't hear you, Asleep, On a call or Allow on screen, tap it. Instead of ending the conversation, the tap opens her sheet, where you can see what she needs.
Mute, pause, lower and end
Her sheet has a row of controls at the bottom: Reports, Translate, the white button in the middle, Mute microphone and Options.
- Mute microphone: she cannot hear you, but she keeps working. Tap it again to unmute.
- The white button: a tap pauses her. Your microphone goes silent, her voice is muted and her sentence is cut. Tap again to resume.
- Lower the sheet: the arrow at the top takes the sheet down, and so does pulling the sheet down. The conversation goes on, and the seat shows her state on every screen.
To end the conversation, do any of these:
- Tap the seat while she is live.
- Press and hold the white button until its ring fills.
- Open Options › Session details and tap End session.
Once she has ended, tap the white button to start a new conversation.
How long it lasts
A connection has a time limit. The line under her words counts the time, and Options › Session details shows the time Elapsed and Remaining. When the time is up, the sheet says Our hour is complete. You can start a new conversation whenever you like.
A pause that goes on too long ends the call. The sheet then says Paused for a while. and I ended the call.
On the Lock Screen
While a conversation is live on your iPhone, a card on the Lock Screen shows her state, with Mute and End buttons. On an iPhone with a Dynamic Island, she shows there too. Amber means she needs you.
To hide the card, open Options › Presence and turn off Lock screen card.
