Her brain, thinking and way of working
Tune Arachne
Three choices shape how Arachne works: her brain, how much she thinks and when she asks you. They sit together on one screen.
- Tap Arachne in the bottom bar.
- Tap ⋯ and choose Tune.
- Make your choices under Who thinks for you, How much it thinks and When it asks you.
- Tap Save. The screen shows Saved, and the missions you start next use your setup.
The + in her box holds quick switches for the same things: the brain under Mind, where Auto is called Smart, your approvals under Approvals, and her way of working under Mode.
Her brains
| Brain | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Nippy | The quickest. Short jobs done fast and at low cost, such as a quick look-up or reading one page. |
| Nexus | Recommended for most missions: thorough, and quicker than Weaver. |
| Weaver | The deepest, for hard, many-sided jobs. She investigates before she answers, takes the longest and gives the clearest account. |
| Auto | Moves up to a deeper brain when a mission needs it, and starts fresh on the next. |
Weaver comes with a paid plan. Without one, a mission set to Weaver runs on Nexus instead, and she tells you so. The deeper the brain, the more a mission costs in credits; see How credits work.
You can also run her on a model you already pay for: tap Add a model under her brains. See Add your own model.
How much she thinks
| Level | What it means |
|---|---|
| Low | Fast and cheap, for simple steps. |
| Medium | Balanced, a level that suits most work. |
| High | Slow and thorough, for steps that need care. |
| Auto | She sets the level herself and raises it when needed. This is where she starts. |
Pick Low, Medium or High to pin it, and she keeps that level for the whole mission. On Auto, she raises it when a step goes wrong. It never goes above High and does not drop back during the mission; the next mission starts fresh. You can see the level she is on as she works.
Deeper thinking takes longer and uses more credits.
When she asks you
Under When it asks you, choose how often she stops for your tap before acting in your name: Ask every step, Ask when it matters, which is where she starts, or Trust me. Payments, messages sent as you and deletions always ask first, whatever you pick. See What she asks you first.
Her way of working
Tap + in her box and choose under Mode:
- Direct run: she gets to work right away. This is the usual way.
- Plan first: she reads and thinks, then brings you a plan step by step. Nothing runs until you tap Run the plan.
- Report: she researches in depth and answers with a full report: a short summary with her verdict, sections with tables, a recommendation and the sources she used.
A mode stays on for the missions that follow until you change it, and the + shows a dot while Plan first or Report is on. When Nourva restarts, she is back on Direct run. In the Terminal, /plan, /report and /direct do the same.
