Light, dark and your own look
Where to change the look
In the app, one page holds the whole look: Settings › Appearance. There you choose the theme, the text size and the background behind Chat. It works the same way on iPhone, iPad and Android.
You can open it two ways:
- Tap ⋯ at the top of any screen, then Settings, then Appearance.
- In Chat, tap ⋯, then Customize. It opens the same Appearance page.
Light, dark or automatic
At the top of Appearance are two tiles, Light and Dark, and a switch called Automatic.
- Open Settings › Appearance.
- Tap Light or Dark. The whole app changes at once.
- To follow your device instead, turn on Automatic. Nourva then turns light or dark whenever your device does.
Tapping Light or Dark turns Automatic off. The Appearance row on the Settings home shows your choice: Light, Dark or Automatic.
Text size
Under Text size, a slider makes the text smaller or larger. The sample sentence above it, Nourva adjusts to the size you pick., changes as you move the slider, and the whole app follows.
On iPhone and iPad, Nourva also follows the text size set in the device's own settings, on top of the step you pick here.
Your chat background
Chat background sets what sits behind Chat. You can give its two screens different looks:
- Home is the screen Chat shows before a conversation starts, where Nourva opens.
- Chat is a conversation.
Choose where it shows
Beside Show on, choose Chat, Home or Both. The colour or photo you pick next goes on the screen you chose here.
Pick a colour
Tap a colour to use it. The colours are Ink, Graphite, Midnight, Plum, Wine, Cocoa, Mist, Sand, Nourva, Dusk, Ocean, Ember, Lilac, Slate, Dawn and Pearl. Their names stay in English in every language. Each colour has a light and a dark version and changes with Light and Dark.
Original, marked with a round arrow, is the app's own pixel background. Tap it, or tap the colour you are using a second time, to go back to it.
Use your own photo
- Tap Choose a photo and pick a picture.
- The picture fills the screen. Drag it, and pinch to zoom, until the framing suits you. Original here puts it back to its first position and size.
- Use Blur and Dim to soften it so your words stay easy to read, and choose Chat, Home or Both.
- Tap Done. To leave without a change, tap the close button at the top.
A photo keeps its own colours in both themes. Once you have one, it appears beside the colours as Your photo. Tap it to open it full screen again, adjust it if you like, and tap Done to use it.
Your photo and your background choices stay on this device. Nourva never uploads the photo, so your other devices keep their own look. If the device is full, the photo view says Not enough space on this device and your old background stays.
Bubbles
Bubbles has two choices, Glass and Solid, and changes the message bubbles while a photo is behind a conversation. Glass lets the photo show through them, and Solid keeps them opaque so the words stand out.
On the web
On nourva.ai the dashboard is Dark or Light:
- Sign in and open Account settings in your dashboard.
- Under Preferences, find Appearance and choose Dark or Light.
- Choose Save preferences.
The sun and moon button at the top of the dashboard switches between the two at once. Text size and the chat background are set in the app.
