#How memory works

Memory built like the human mind — six layers, always learning, no prompt required — in an encrypted vault on your own device, yours alone.

#Overview

Memory is the soul of Nourva. Without it, an assistant is a stranger every time — you re-explain yourself forever, and nothing you build together lasts. With it, Nourva becomes someone who actually knows you. Memory is modeled after the human mind: it keeps six layers that separate events from facts, facts from feelings, and certainty from a hunch — the way a mind actually remembers.

And it works with no prompt. You never tell Nourva to remember, never re-explain who you are, never paste context or write instructions. It captures what matters on its own as you work, leaves out what does not, and brings it back when it is needed. Your memory is personal, strong, and sovereign — kept in an encrypted vault on your own device, yours alone.

Note

The best prompt is the one you never have to write. You just talk, and Nourva already knows.

#The six layers

Memory is built like the human mind — six layers, each holding a different kind of knowing:

  1. What Happened — your story. (episodic) The events of your life with Nourva — every session, task, and milestone, with the time, place, and tone. In practice: it picks up last month's project right where you left off.
  2. What's True — your facts. (semantic) Verified knowledge — your name, goals, work, preferences — each fact carrying its own evidence trail. In practice: say once you are vegetarian, and it is a sourced fact the next time food comes up.
  3. What Still Needs Confirmation — the honest layer. (held separately) The hunches Nourva is forming about you, kept apart and never written as fact until confirmed. In practice: it senses you might prefer mornings, but asks before it assumes.
  4. How You Feel — your weather. (emotional) Your mood, your patterns, the weight of your words — tracked with care, held with respect. In practice: a stressful week, and it softens its tone unprompted.
  5. How You Work — your rhythm. (procedural) How you like to receive information — your pace, your tone, your unsaid preferences. In practice: short answers, no preamble — it learned that and holds to it.
  6. What Matters Next — your horizon. (prospective) Reminders, commitments, and follow-ups — the things you will need before you ask. In practice: a deadline you mentioned in passing surfaces before it is due.

#A memory that's alive

Memory does not just store — it understands. Every night, like a mind in sleep, it consolidates: merging what it learned, resolving contradictions instead of overwriting (when you change, it updates and keeps the history), and connecting what it knows. Every fact carries its provenance — where it came from. It is not a log. It is a mind that keeps making sense of you.

#Your vault

Your memory lives in a per-user encrypted vault on your own device. No copy is kept on our servers. It is never used to train anything, and never shared across users. It is yours the way your own memories are yours — and only a small, scrubbed profile syncs to your own account so your devices stay in step.

Note

You decide what stays, what goes, and what leaves with you. You can browse what Nourva holds, correct or remove anything, and export your memory whenever you want.

#How to use it

You do not have to manage memory for it to work — it builds quietly as you use Nourva, with no prompt required. To get the most from it:

  1. Just work naturally. Tell Nourva your preferences and context as they come up; what is worth keeping is kept, and the rest is let go.
  2. Lean on what it knows. When you ask for something, assume Nourva already holds the context you have shared before — no need to restate it.
  3. Review it when you want. Open Memory to browse what Nourva holds about you and your work.
  4. Correct or remove anything. Tell Nourva to forget something, and it is gone. Your information stays under your control.
  5. Take it with you. Export your memory whenever you want a copy of what Nourva holds.

#Examples

What you ask:

text
Set up a project plan for the launch — usual format.

What you see: Nourva produces the plan in the structure you have used before, without asking you to describe your preferred format again — because it remembered it.

What you ask:

text
What do you remember about me?

What you see: a clear view of what Nourva holds about you and your work, where you can review each item and remove anything you no longer want kept.

What you ask:

text
Forget my old job title — it's out of date.

What you see: Nourva drops that detail from memory and confirms it is gone, so it does not surface again.

#Tips

  • Tell Nourva your preferences once, plainly — it carries them forward, with no prompt, so later requests can be shorter.
  • Check Memory now and then to see what is being kept; it is the easiest way to keep it accurate.
  • If something feels off in how Nourva works with you, look in Memory — correcting a remembered detail often fixes it.
  • Export your memory before any big change if you want a copy of what Nourva knows at that moment.
